Boston,
Massachusetts May 15, 2013 – A group of students from Sutter Middle
School in Sacramento arrived in Boston on Monday, May 13 for a 5-day tour of
the Boston area. The group had “Boston Strong t-shirts” made prior to
their departure and wore them proudly. The students enjoyed several stops
in Boston including a visit to the Capitol of Massachusetts where Governor
Deval Patrick welcomed them. They also had time to tour Boston on a Boston
Duck. Visits to Cambridge, Old Sturbridge Village, Salem, Essex, and Gloucester
are next.

2013 – Andris Nelsons has been appointed the 15th Music Director of
the Boston Symphony Orchestra since its founding in 1881. The announcement was made
today by Chairman of the BSO Board of Trustees Ted Kelly, BSO Board of Trustees
Vice Chairs Stephen B. Kay and Robert O'Block, and BSO Managing Director Mark
Volpe, following a meeting of the orchestra's Board of Trustees earlier in the
day at Symphony Hall. At 34 years old, Andris Nelsons is the youngest music
director to lead the Boston Symphony Orchestra in over 100 years; he is also
the first Latvian-born conductor to take on the post.

With a nod to sustainability and the modern budget traveler, Hostelling International USA (HI-USA) will officially open its new Boston hostel this June as the first LEED certified accommodations in the city. The facility is aiming to be the first LEED Gold hostel in the country. The new hostel will be located in the heart of downtown Boston at the intersection of the midtown cultural district, Theatre District, and Chinatown.

For the third consecutive year, Boston & Cambridge have been named
the Top Destination in the United States for International Association
Meetings by the International Congress and Convention Association
(ICCA). In 2010, Boston & Cambridge hosted a record number of 43
international meetings (up from 36 the previous year), making it the
number one destination for international association meetings in the
United States.
